Easy Homemade DIY Face Scrub Recipes

Best DIY Face Scrub Recipes

From a young age, my mom and my grandma taught me the importance of using organic and natural products to get healthy and glowing skin. One of the most important things for healthy skin is exfoliating (with the right products) to get that glowing look.

There are many great exfoliants out there, but nothing compares to gathering the ingredients yourself and making your own DIY face scrubs, free of unfamiliar and damaging ingredients. You’ll have full control to make one that works perfectly for your skin needs: hydrating your skin, combating acne, fighting those clogged pores, and more!

Just like all of us, you belong to one of the two teams – you either love the way exfoliators buff away your skin’s sins or you fear the hardworking scrubs (ouch) would damage your skins barrier. If its the latter, you are yet to get your hands on a good scrub that can spell good news for your skin sans snagging it. After all, face scrubs have evolved beyond the use of abrasive exfoliants, so you can drop the idea of them being ‘too rough’ on your skin and get closer to achieving baby soft skin.

Are Face Scrubs Always Good For Your Skin?

Ayurveda has identified skin exfoliation using natural ingredients as essential, not only healthy and clear skin, but also your overall health and wellbeing. If you grew up in an Indian household, you must be familiar with Ubtan, the traditional Ayurvedic body scrub using natural herbs and grains. Apart from these herbs, salt and sugar scrubs have also been used in traditional Ayurvedic face and body scrubs.

However, not all scrubs are good for your skin.

There are studies suggesting that the chemical scrubs that use microbeads as exfoliants result in skin damage. These chemical scrubs are too harsh and the microbeads present in them can bruise the skin.

A good face scrub should be gentle on the skin and not cause any irritation. For this reason, we highly recommend the use of Ayurvedic, or homemade face scrubs made with natural ingredients only. These natural face scrubs are safe for the skin and do not cause any excessive dryness or irritation.
